A wooden frescoe relating the history of maple-syrup production throughout four |

different periods, can be viewed.The first scene is a representation of the Amerindian period when the sap was collected in small goblets placed on hot stones for the evaporation. The second scene is one of the 17th century,when the Europeans used the "goudrelle" (litlle pipe…) and the birch-bark containers. The

third one is what we called the folkloric period, at the beginning of the 20th century with the notching, the chalumeau, the barrell and the horse. The fourth scene represents a modern sugar-shack with its network of pipes, tubes and vacuum, etc…

This frescoe of the four scenesm stems from historic and anthropologic research, covering the beginning of the Colonization up to day. The sculptor, Clément Pelletier, who himself is a maple-syrup producer, says it took around three weeks of work to sculpt just one scene, the sculpture measures are 4' feet in height by 16' feet wide. |
