Maple taffy on the snow

The maple-syrup solidified on snow is obtained by boiling the sap to the temperature of 238°F (114°C) and by pouring this hot syrup on the snow, so that it solidifies and makes a kind of toffee which some call

"taffye". We usually use a wooden paddle to twirl the toffee from the snow. Some  people prefer to eat  it  when  it  is  still  hot,others prefer to eat it when the toffee has gotten a little harder.
